Guide to Breast Uplift (mastopexy)

It is common to mothers especially when nursing and during pregnancy where increase of breast milk causes fibrous bands to break down and skin to stretch.

There are reasons to why women choose to have mastopexy. These include; improving breast contour after weight loss this is because loosing weight means that the volume of breast also is reduced and surgery may help to restore youthful breast shape by removal of excess skin. Also done after pregnancy and breastfeeding. This is because pregnancy brings changes to the body leaving them sagging.
Breast uplift surgery raises the breast by removing the excess skin and making the tissues around tighter to reshape and support of the new breast. Statistics shows that breast surgery have risen to 70 percent since the year 2000. This is because it helps the mothers to have their youthful looks by rejuvenating their figures.
Droopy of sagging breasts are commonly associated with pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging, heredity and weight fluctuations. The most common operation is called mastopexy. This is the process of repositioning of nipples. Most cases you can get breast lift at any age after your breasts are fully developed or even carried out before one is pregnant.
Surgically it is possible to recreate the structures of the breast and shape them into more youthful and attractive look. The excess skin is removed from the breast and it is remodeled into a tighter shape and the nipple are positioned in a higher level. The process can reduce the dark area called areola. Most women seek mastopexy when they are done having children because the whole process may get ruined by being pregnant and breastfeeding and can result to droopy breasts.
There are things to consider when deciding to have the surgery. You need to consult a plastic surgeon and tell them what you expect from the procedure and show them the size and shape of the breast you’d like. The surgeon will consider your health first. He or she should explain the process and risk associated with it.
Breast uplift takes two to three hours depending on the procedure being carried out. The patient stays in the private hospital overnight. The surgeon makes several cuts on the breast and removes excess skin around areola and then reposition the nipples. The cuts are closed with stitches once the surgeon is done and the breast wrapped with special supportive dressing.
Every procedure has its risks and they differ with different people. The side effects of the surgery include; scarring, nipple sensation and swelling. Also there are complications after mastopexy which are rare but still exist. These are infection on the wound, scarring and bleeding. It is important to avoid heavy lifting of things during 4 to 6 weeks of recovery.
There is need to rest after breast uplift operation until the effects of anaesthetic have passed. The surgeon will offer pain killers and insert tubes that drain excess fluids out of the breast. You need to have information on how to care for the wound through good hygiene.
