It was back in the 90s when Pamela Anderson flaunted her enhanced assets on the beach in Baywatch, much to the delight of teenagers across the country.Those images sparked a huge trend in breast procedures – and the trend only went from strength to strength last year.
A new report has found that there was a 3% year-on-year rise inboob jobs in the US in 2017. This might not seem like the biggest difference, but when you break it down the evidence shows that a whopping 300,000 patients went under the knife to increase the size of their breasts. This figure is sure to rise in 2018.
Bigger breasts, it seems, are not always everyone’s cup of tea though. This is why the research – conducted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons – found that breast reductions also rose by an incredible 11% in 2017. So why are so many women choosing to change the size of their assets? Those involved in the study believe they’ve found the answer.
The increased number of women opting for breast reductions has been put down to the fact that the procedure is both ‘functional and aesthetical’. ASPS president Jeffrey E. Janis explained: “Breast reductions are consistently reported as one of the highest patient satisfaction procedures because it positively affects a woman’s quality of life.” He added: “It addresses both functional and aesthetic concerns.”
Last year, model Amber Rose revealed that she was having her boobs surgically reduced. Fed up with sporting natural 36H breasts, the starlet penned a touching social media post in which she proudly revealed she was going under the knife to fix the problem. She explained: “My boobs are stupid heavy, my back hurts and I can’t wear cute lil shirts without a grandma bra.” Amber successfully went through with the procedure in January. She’s since been flaunting her smaller chest around her hometown of Los Angeles.
